Consortium of Universities for Research in Earthquake Engineering (CUREE)

For 22 years (1994 through 2016), Reitherman was the Executive Director of CUREE. In the last ten years, in addition to his overall managerial responsibilities for CUREE, he specialized in developing earthquake engineering exhibitions and public education programs and in writing earthquake engineering history. In his earlier career he conducted research and consulting activities concerning unreinforced masonry building seismic performance, nonstructural system seismic design, woodframe construction, earthquake loss estimation, and architectural aspects of seismic design. In his graduate work at Berkeley, he specialized in seismic design, and has served as the visiting lecturer teaching the introductory structural engineering course to architecture students there.
